A Mind Vacation Called "Tranquility"

Time is the precious commodity. Everything we do is controlled by time and there never ever seems to be enough of it. We rush to do almost everything in our lives. A simple thing like waiting for an elevator seems like an eternity. People pace impatiently, constantly looking at their watch as they search the faces of other anguished souls with the expression that says, "Do you believe this?" But one thing is for sure, they are all feeling time’s stressful effects.

Lost time is the biggest cause of stress and because of it, stress is the biggest cause of lost time. There was once a period in our lives when time passed agonizingly slow; an hour, it seemed, was an eternity, but not now. That same hour is just a fleeting moment. How many times have you heard, "I just simply ran out of time," or, "I was rushing to get the job done and hurt my back." Then, of course there is, "So much to do, so little time," and finally, "Don’t bother me now, I’m under so much pressure, I don’t have time to talk now."

Time, it seems, is our biggest enemy. How often have you asked your children why they were late coming home, only to hear, "I’m sorry, time just ran out on me." Come to think of it, don’t we as adults use that exact same excuse when we are late with something? Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that since childhood, time has governed out lives.

Yet, as children, we allowed ourselves time to daydream. You see it on children’s faces many times as they lazily drift through a moment in time, just sort of daydreaming about something exciting or peaceful. Maybe children give themselves time to daydream because they have yet to declare "time" as their enemy.

Daydreaming, it is such a beautiful word, and it is such a wonderful thing to do. Well, Introspectives MindVacations are exactly that, beautiful daydreams that are simply wonderful to experience. "Tranquility" is such a daydream.

...It begins on a beautiful white sandy beach where you become aware of the soft gentle sway of the sea and of each wave as it caresses the shoreline. It is morning and there is a slight chill to the air. As you look towards the horizon, you begin to see the sun's warm colors light up the dawning of a new day.

Then you will envision the sun's grand ascent through the heavens and see streams of brilliant colors light up the sky as the sun's vast sphere begins to appear. You are watching the rebirth of a new day as you say good-bye to the moonlit glow.

Within seconds, the sunlight brings warmth to your world and you watch as everything around you begins to come alive. The ocean seems to accelerate its pace; seabirds start to fly; the heavens turn off all of the night's lights; and you witness the moon retreat into someone else's night.

You will imagine vast beams of streaking colors as the sun rises. Each colorful beam lights up the sea and turns the water from various shades of blue to the most lustrous aqua imaginable.

The ocean itself begins to respond with beautiful florescent streaks that seem to move swiftly but magically through the turquoise water. Then, for the first time, you realize why; there is a lone dolphin swimming just below the ocean surface.

His movement is majestically swift and is not without purpose. Then, as if by accident, the dolphin flies out of the water in a spinning motion. His reentry into the ocean is a most fantastic sight.

Suddenly the sea becomes a magical light show and your mind can readily imagine shafts of colorful florescent lights that just seem to dart in every conceivable direction possible. You then realize why; that dolphin has found his mate, and they both rejoice in their meeting with an aquatic display of love.

Offshore you notice a three masted schooner moving through the sea under full sail. The sun's brilliant colors make its movement appear magical. The schooner's sails are so white against a backdrop of brilliant blue.

As you watch the boat's graceful movement, you can't help but notice the way the bow just sought of kisses the soft waves of the ocean. You imagine yourself as a lone sailor on the schooner and you name your new-found friend "Tranquility."...and so the daydream continues...
